I really don’t feel like you can go wrong with the classics. One of the ways we learn to interpret literature is by understanding references to “canonical texts.” If you’re a preschooler, canonical texts include Little Red Riding Hood. But few preschoolers want to sit down and discuss the impact of the Little Red Riding Hood story on modern literature, so interpreting the story with a Little Red Riding Hood Playdate is the way to go. You can repeat the theme several times to emphasize different elements- dramatic play, the color red, or different versions of the story, depending on the age of the kids at your playdate.
