Someone asked me recently what my top three tips for new moms are. Here’s my list:
- Don’t panic.
- It will be OK.
- This too shall pass.
Look at the baby, and repeat as necessary. Seriously, everything else is covered by “it depends,” which would have been number four if they’d asked for four tips. When you get to “it depends,” there will always be someone ready to give you advice whether you want it or not, so you’re covered.

Those are all so true! We had kids earlier than our friends – and now that they are finally on the baby train, there is a higher level of panic going on! I’ll have to send them this to show them I’m not the only one advising that they don’t panic!
i wish i would have been told this before my 1st son!! i was so worried about being the perfect parent that i put to much stress on myself. it almost killed my marriage, with my second we had moved away from the family and i felt like that took a lot weight off my shoulders cause i felt like no one was over my shoulder watchign me
Ha..ha…very insightful, yet very simple.. The problem with me while I was a new mom was I used to get super anxious and used to hyperventilate without even pausing to take a breath on certain situations. There were times I thought that I am truly having a panic attack! 🙂
