I developed this play-dough recipe to have less salt to upset little tummies when the littles inevitably MUST just eat the play dough. It is quick and easy to make, smells good, and feels good. The trade off for less salt is a SHORTER SHELF LIFE. If you’re going to store this dough for more than a few days, you should keep it in the freezer or make sure no one eats any of it, as it may harbor bacteria. It will look fine, smell fine, and play fine, but remember it’s probably not really safe to eat.

Quick and Easy Lemon Squeezie Playdough
Ingredients
- 4 cups Unbleached All-Purpose Flour
- 1 cup Salt
- 2 packets Unsweetened Lemon Kool-aid
- 1/4 cup Vegetable Oil
- 1 1/2 cups Hot Water
Instructions
-
Combine dry ingredients.
-
Add wet ingredients and mix with a dough hook or knead until smooth and even.
-
For salt dough ornaments, roll out, cut out, and bake in a 250 degree oven for 2 hours. YOU MUST paint or seal these, as they will re-absorb moisture from the air otherwise.
